Hanga Roa

By the waterfront there are a few genuine moai. The dive shop will offer to take you diving to one, but the one underwater is a cast recreation and put there just as a point of interest. Near here, past the baseball field, there going back in direction of the main drag, across from the big antenna dish, there is a bank and ATM, in case you find yourself here someday.

One of many places around town, offering driving and trekking tours.

In the evening, locals and visitors hang out here to watch the sunset.

Or, as my hostess recommended to me, make a dash up the coast, just about a 10-15 minute walk from town, to take pictures of the ancient moai there in the setting sun. I went twice and came back pretty happy with what I got.

And my personal favorite moai sunset images.

And then, way too soon, the vacation to Rapa Nui was over, and a 767 took me back to Santiago.
